We are a market leader and well known for products such as Tri-Clover®, Contherm®, Sharples®, Merco®, Standard Refrigeration®, Ketema™ and the newest addition Champ.
During 2010, Alfa Laval celebrates another milestone. . .
1915Sharples’ son applies centrifugal technology to industrial applications and forms the Sharples Corporation. The two partners eventually became competitors.
1942
The United States enters World War II. A shortage of lubricating oil during the war stimulates the development of the oil separator and leads to the development of Alfa Laval’s industrial separators. The DeLaval Separator Company becomes an important supplier to the U.S. Navy, and is still a well-known name in the marine industry.
1962
Alfa Laval acquires a heat exchanger company including the American subsidiary, American Heat Reclaiming Corporation (AHRCO). With AHRCO, the company added the spiral heat exchanger to the product line.
1963
With the acquisition of G&H Products Corp. in Wisconsin, Alfa Laval in the USA became the first company in the global Alfa Laval organization to enter the fluid handling business.
1970
Alfa Laval purchases the Contherm® scraped-surface heat exchanger business, based in Newburyport, MA.
1980
The DeLaval name changes to Alfa Laval.
1986
Alfa Laval acquires Tri-Clover, North America’s leading supplier to the sanitary fluid handling industry. Tri-Clover remains a key product name within Alfa Laval today.
1988
Sharples and Alfa Laval once again join forces to form the largest and most advanced separation company in the world. Today, Sharples is a prominent name in our installed base of separators.
2002
Alfa Laval adds membrane filtration to the product line with the acquisition of Danish Separation Systems (DSS), the pioneer of cross-flow membrane filtration.
2003
The Toftejorg Group was purchased, and the product line expands again with the addition of advanced tank cleaning equipment.
2006
Packinox, a world leader in welded plate heat exchangers for the refinery and oil and gas market, was acquired, adding a high-capacity, robust, and efficient solution for these very demanding applications.
2008
Alfa Laval acquires the Standard Refrigeration and Ketema brands of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, condensers, and other heat transfer equipment. These product names are well known within the commercial and industrial refrigeration and industrial process markets in North America.
2010
Champ Products, a leading manufacturer of standard and custom heat exchangers for OEM customers in the engine market, was acquired by Alfa Laval. Champ Products' unique shell-and-tube and plate heat exchangers are designed for marine, mobile equipment and industrial applications.
